Dividing a shape(closed curve) with lines(open curve)

Would be nice if you could add this.
I know I can achieve it by closing open curve, but Illustrator does it and it's useful.

I've tried this and it looks like AD is exactly doing this. The only thing is that i have to throw away one of the components.

That works only in very simple case.
Also doesn't work with straight curve.

e.g. attached picture below that's pie chart like thing.

Division on Illustrator doesn't require a path goes through entire shape.

I know I can do similar if I make very narrow rectangle shape, but it leaves a gap along the cutting line.

That's a petty, than. Well, at least i learned something from your original entry (namely that you don't necessarily need closed curves to do this kind of operations). 😀

@RNKLNThanks anyway, but this is needed for Affinity and many people want it.
That's why I posted this feedback as a feature request not just for me but also for people I know who need this.

Why not use the handy-dandy shape feature. Very simple to use and works great.

That only works with Pie chart-ish thing.
Example above is just example, there are many situations that's not Pie chart-ish thing that division is useful.

hi just noticed affinity designer does not have this tool. I was trying to divide a map into provinces. So this would be very useful.

Any suggestions or alternatives to this function?

You can do this in Inkscape which is free.
Or add very thin stroke to lines and expand stroke. so you can use Geometry as usual.
Though it leaves a gap along the cutting line.

Hi thanks, for now I use the Geometry functions. It certainly works but takes multiple steps. Would appreciate this function.
