Issues with move tool not selecting or resizing

Recommended Posts

Hi. I am having issues with the move tool in Affinity Designer. Sometimes it won't show the resize arrows when I hover over the corner of an object, so I can't resize the object. And sometimes it won't select the object at all. The only way I can select the object is by clicking on the relevant layer which then highlights/selects the object on that layer – but then I still can't resize it. If I close Affinity Designer and then reopen, it might work, but when I open another file, it will have stopped working. It seems to be temperamental, and it is happening in multiple files, not just the one.

Hi mouse279,

Is it safe to assume you're using a Wacom tablet? If so go to Edit > Preferences > Tools and uncheck 'Use Windows Ink for tablet input'. This disables Windows Ink which has been causing issues and preventing users from moving/interacting with objects.

We have made fixes/improvements to this area (Input breaks after switching from Tablet Pen to Mouse) of the program in the latest release.

The fixes and how to update are described in these forum posts.

We would appreciate you checking that this issue has now been resolved for you.

I'm still having the same issue occasionally, even after updating. It's not consistent, and the only way I've found to resolve it is to click on another tool, then another layer, then click back onto the layer I'm trying to adjust and click back to the Move tool.
