Different coloured/weight strokes for sides of text frame

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I want to do the following text frame strokes:

Left = 1 mm
Right = 1 mm
Botton = 1 mm
Top = 5 mm

At this moment I do it like this:

I make a stroke on all side with 1 mm.
Then I using the Pen Tool and make a curve on the top of my text frame.

Is there a better way?

Thanks Mike

You could try a 2 row (1 column) table with the top row set to "Autofit Row to Contents" (set at 5mm).

Then save this as an asset

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

Depending on your use of such an object and of a table's limitations in text editing you alternatively might prefer a text frame with an additional top line, for instance:

A text style for the first line only, showing the 5 mm top stroke as paragraph decoration:

Or,  with less influence to the first line text style but with additional needs when changing the frame width:
a text frame + the top stroke as a pinned rectangle object (haven't tried all pinning options):
