How to properly use NIK collection plugins after developing a raw file

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I recently added NIK collection 2.5 to my Affinity Photo. I have used the filters for some time now, but only on tiff files. On a DxO webinar today I saw the presenter using the plugins rightaway after developing a raw file in Affinity, but this seems not to work for me, as all the plugins are greyed out (except the HDR Efex Pro one).

What am I missing here? Is the behaviour different on a Mac (as the presenter was using)  and Windows (which I use)? Or is it a Affinity configuration issue?

Thanks, Pietro

You need to make sure you're developing to RGB/16, not to RGB/32. Only one of the plugins will handle RGB/32, if I remember correctly.

You can make that choice in the Assistant Manager, in the section on the Develop Assistant.

Hi Pietro Quadrelli, RipperBC,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
DxO Nick Collection plugins support both RGB 8 and 16 bit images with the exception of HDR Efex Pro 2 which also support 32 bit images. If they appear greyed out you aren't working with an RGB8/16 document or you haven't a pixel layer selected. If you are coming from the Develop
Persona make sure you have the Develop Assistant (you may have to open a RAW and go to menu View > Assistant Manager... or click the Develop Assistant button if accessing the Assistant Manager from Photo Persona via menu View > Assistant Manager) set to RGB (16 bit) in the RAW Output format dropdown as walt mentioned.
