Hello,

please can anybody show me how to crate a gradient like in the Instagram logo? I couldn not figure out how to solve this problem. There is no gradient with different colours in three directions:

.
yellow

Thank you for your help.

I don't know exactly which logo you mean (I've seen several types), but I think it's either a regular Linear or an Elliptical gradient.

You could try two gradients

1: Red to Blue.

2: Transparent to Yellow, on top of the red/blue.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

How can i give a Object two gradients?

Use different blending mode on the second gradient.

Here's an alternative without gradients:

But this will not export as vector - it (effects) will get rasterized:

Wow. There's a lot of left I've to learn. Thank you.

Yep - but pay attention to rasterisation if vector output matters.

Mesh gradients has been requested for years.

I was aware of that, thanks. Nobody said it had to be exportable without rasterisation.

By the way, the other posted solutions will be at least partially rasterised.

Correct, no one did. But if someone should expect it as vector from this vector based drawing software it is nice to know.

Keep it simple. This is just a proof of concept I quickly made with the use of three gradient fills in the appearance studio. Colours and look is not identical to the original logo. One can monkey around forever with this workaround. This is the work around hell you are stuck with without vector tools in Affinity Designer. Not the professionals choice..

@anon2 This method exports as vector to SVG and PDF (print).

but a PDF export with vector gradients uses raster masks for transparency in the gradients.

The gradients of Jowday do contain transparency – but I don't see rasterization in its PDF exports, neither with X-4, nor (for print) or (for export) preset.

The PDFs all contain rasterisation.

The X-4 one contains Image objects, and each Image object is a raster image.

The other two contain raster masks to give transparency to vector gradients.

Where do you read the info of "Image object"? – To me Acrobat preflight doesn't report images but gradients & transparency only, even for the X-4 pdf:

Also a visual comparison (macOS Preview.app) of PDF vs. exported PNG doesn't show pixels for the PDF while they are obvious in the PNG.
(If you can't recognize the difference in my screenshot increase the contrast for the entire image to make the difference between top and bottom more obvious.)
