msgrnbay Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 (edited) Hello, I can't get the line to go away after I type my text. I clicked on the pen, drew my line, converted it to a text path, typed my text and the line won't go away. I tried it with a shape too and the line of shape stays too. None of the directions I've read or seen online tell you how to get rid of it. I work on a Mac using OS Catalina 10.15.4 and I use a Microsoft keyboard, in case there are keystrokes I need to know about. Thank you very much. Edited April 9, 2020 by msgrnbay Quote
walt.farrell Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. You do not say which application you're using, and it could be Designer or Publisher. I'll assume Publisher, as the line would go away in Designer. In Publisher View > Studio > Text Frame, and you can adjust (or eliminate) the stroke of the frame, which is what you want to do. msgrnbay Posted April 9, 2020 Author Posted April 9, 2020 (edited) Hello Walt, Thank you for answering back. Yes, I'm in publisher and I did what you suggested and the lines are still there. I have tried everything, but nothing works. So, it would appear that if I use a shape that works better, but when I try to draw a wavy line and then convert that into a text path, all goes well until I'm done and the line stays put. Another suggestion? Thank you. Edited April 9, 2020 by msgrnbay Quote
GarryP Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Can you show us two screen grabs please? The first showing what the text-on-a-path object looks like when not selected (while not in Preview Mode), the second showing what the Text Frame Panel looks like with the text-on-a-path object selected? (Full-screen grabs are generally more useful than small areas, if you can get them.) Quote
PixelPest Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Have you tried to disable "Show Text Flow" under menu->View: Quote
Bynah Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 I am running into the same problem. I made a large poster from someone and exported it as a JPG. I sent it to them and they sent it to get printed then laminated. Only to find out those lines were still there. So sad. But, I tried everything listed above and nothing is working. Is this a glitch? I am getting ready to try to purchase these programs and ditch Adobe. But it would be helpful to know if this and other problems are reconcilable. Thank you! Quote
Bynah Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 These are 2 screenshots of my problem. The first is the work in Publisher. the second is the finished JPEG my friend printed. I also tried it in designer and that didn't make a difference. Quote

Your Text Frame screenshot is incomplete, but seems to show that your Text Frame has a stroke assigned. Have you tried removing it? Bynah Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 Thank you so much, gentlemen, for responding. Please forgive me as I am so new to this program and I need a little help to understand what you are both saying. Sorry, It took me years to learn PS and ID and now I am trying to reinvent the wheel, with not a lot of materials to work with. Quote
Bynah Posted May 6, 2020 Posted May 6, 2020 You know what? I played around with what I thought you were both saying and I got rid of them! Thank you so much for your help!!!!! walt.farrell and Old Bruce 2 Quote

Ray C Posted May 8, 2020 Posted May 8, 2020 SAME PROBLEM. I found this post, and found it very confusing at first. NOW I'VE GOT IT!. Thanks guys. Seems this should be the default behavior for a text path. They really ought to at least add this to our Help files. Quote
