1.8.4.647 the installation file does not work. (AD and AP)

Recommended Posts

I would start by opening File Explorer and examining one of the installer files. Right-click and choose Properties, then look at the Digital Signature (or perhaps just Signature) tab and see if the file is properly signed. If not, the download is corrupt or incomplete, and you need to redownload.

I think Walt is probably correct, looks like the installer file was corrupt.

I thought about it. Even downloaded repeatedly. The installation of AP and AD failed.

I downloaded the installation package for AP and AD. The problem was in both cases. The AP package was downloaded again. The error is repeated. I can see the certificate information.

I was installed both versions on two PC's - it was flawless, also as previous installations. I notice it can depends from system environment settings. If i set the TEMP drive to SSD - it do not installing. But when the TEMP is system default - it is total ok. I reported some time about such issue.

Thanks for the additional information. That might help @Mark Ingram figure out what's going wrong.

first more info for Win7 x64:

- I've made two downloads - same behaviour (stopped)

- updated .NET framework from 4.7.2 to 4.8 - not helped - install stopped

now I tried it on second location with Win 10 x64 v1909 and fresh download - no problem at all - successfully updated!

tomorrow I'l bring this download to the first location

So it seems to be a Win 7 problem, specifically.

It seems that the problem is really only ours. All previous updates were installed without problems.

Can confirm, Win7 fails to install. As much as it's not supported, it would be a real bummer that installer problems are the cause for keeping older versions untill I can safely upgrade (which I can't really do now until I upgrade my HW, which needs to wait due to reasons known).

I suspect .NET problem as it's error is also in my event log together with one I posted above

first fires .NET error then kernel

oh, and I must point out this is my first ever install problem with AP since the first public 1.5 beta on Win OS - it's a remarkably excellent job during these years!!!

OK - so everyone with a problem is on Windows 7? We didn't intentionally break Windows 7 (despite it being out of support), so we'll look at what we changed (the 1.8.4 installers have more logging in them to help diagnose problems, so chances are we used a function that isn't available in Windows 7).

I never though you'd break that intentionally (unless you really need something from Win10 to continue development). It's just that it's not officially supported so you may feel like it's not really needed.

That's not an error, @Sunshine Kid

It's just the way you have Windows configured. You can follow the link to change that setting.

There's an Affinity FAQ about that message, I think, but I can't find it right now from my phone.
