Resource Manager for AD & AP too!

Recommended Posts

Hello. I have the 3 products, Affinity Designer, Photo and Publisher.

I request the feature "Resource Manager" for Designer and Photo too, like Publisher.

This is possible?

For now, is impossible for Designer and Photo to set a object as linked to an external file.

You can use the Resource manage in Publisher to open any Designer or Photo file and change an "object" to linked

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

That's because Designer and Photo don't have full support for Linked files.

As Carl said, you could open your file in Publisher and use the Resource Manager to make the files Linked. Or even set the document properties to prefer Linked files.

However, you will also find that Designer and Photo do not have the Preference to automatically update the Linked files when they are updated externally. So whenever you're notified that something has changed, you'll have to close the file and reopen it to see the updates.

Yes, having the Resourcce Manager available would let you perform the update, or you could use the Replace Document/Image button.

But, basically, the full support for Linked files is not there, and at this point Serif does not intend Designer and Photo to fully support the function. They view it as a Publisher function.
