Artboard guides do not display when dragging in objects

Recommended Posts

If I create two artboards A and B and add artboard column guides to B, those guides do not show up when I drag in an object from artboard A to B until I deselect the dragged object and then reselect it. This makes placing the object accurately more difficult and is an unnecessary step that you have to repeat every time you drag in objects, which is a lot.

Ideally, the guides should show up immediately when you drag an object into the artboard's space.

MacOS 10.11.6, Mac Pro 3.1, Cintiq 21"UX, Affinity Designer 1.8.3

If there's a setting for this (I can't see a reason why there would be, but I've been wrong before), I will be very greatful for pointers.

That is very weird, I can duplicate the problem here on Mac OS 10.14.6

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.0 | Affinity Photo 2.4.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

In my experience on Windows, Guides are never visible (and as far as I recall have never been visible) except on the currently active artboard. When you select an object on Artboard A, A is then active, so the Guides on B are no longer visible.

Hi Samuli,

I don't think this is a bug, its just that the guides that are shown are not updated until your selected object changes. However I've passed it on to development as an improvement!

That's very possible, maybe an oversight would be closer to truth. Thanks, much appreciated!
