jJlDNlgJnvIREYDW
In Affinity Photo, is it possible to crop an image automatically, like GIMP's auto-crop feature? I'm editing screenshots of an application (see the attached) - I take these with OS X's screenshot feature, roughly dragging around the application window, then want to crop it to retain just the window - removing the dark grey bit in the attached example. The background's all the same colour. GIMP's auto-crop feature removes a same-colour border from an image. Does Affinity Photo having anything similar, or do I have to use the crop tool and select the application window by hand? Thanks.
Paul Bravery
Hi jJlDNlgJnvIREYDW, Have you tried the Grab utility that comes with your Mac? I use it when I want a perfectly cropped image of an application window: Paul.
AndreasFurster
Can this be moved to feature requests? For Windows?
Staff MEB Posted September 10, 2016 Staff Share Posted September 10, 2016 Hi jJlDNlgJnvIREYDW, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) No, this is not possible unless the area around the subject is transparent. Maybe a macro can help here (available in 1.5 Beta only) but they are still in development and currently have some limitations. AndreasFurster
I know that this is not possible right know, this is why I asked to move this to feature request. Indeed when the surroundings are transparent or completely the same color (for example white backgrounds). If it's not than it's impossible to know where the subject starts. AndreasFurster
A workaround if you have multiple images or objects with no transparent background around them: Group all visible objects. Note the group dimensions in the transform panel Set the dimensions of the document to the noted dimensions Set objects to Anchor to Page I was replying/addressing @jJlDNlgJnvIREYDW question directly. ctekk
I just googled it and landed here. I'd also like this feature. Can I Upvote it somehow?

So, sine I'd love that feature as well: +1 The thing is: I love working with affinity designer and I own affinity photo since ages too but in 90% of times I startup Gimp instead of Photo. Actually I only use Affinity Photo to knock out the background of a photo. My raster image tasks are more basic and gimp provides me with all that, sadly affinity photo doesn't. Steps
+1 This request indeed is very old, but Photo 1.7 Beta did not change something to make it easier to use here.
