monospaced fonts narrowed

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have seen that you have problems with GSUB substitutions in more situations.

This is screenshot of Courier New, MacOs Mojave running latest Affinity publisher 1.8.2
The difference is visible, though the right - wrong case - is in text field.

Looking into the font, I discover that it doesn't have any subsititutions, either kerning (monospaced). Is this done automatically by Affinity designer?

Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, @jansindl3r. :)

For the uneven letter spacing, check the tracking and kerning values in the Character panel. For both the wide ‘ij’ on the left-hand side and the narrow ‘ij’ on the right-hand side, look for horizontal scaling values other than 100%.

Those look like entirely different characters, though, like one has an ij ligature applied.

This is not that should be even possible, I didn't do anything crazy and this happens? it's clearly a bug.

Did you import a PDF file, or did you simply type the text?
