hanstan Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Hi there, I'm trying to export a jpeg with a live filter 'add noise' and it won't export it with this layer visible. I've had a look in the FAQ section and tried clicking on the top layer and 'merging visible' but then this gets rid of the add noise effect too. I also tried following advice for issues relating to pdf export not including live filters but I couldn't see a 'raster all' option when exporting to try that for a jpeg. Pretty new to playing around with affinity still so apologies if this is an obvious fix. Any help, very appeciated. Thanks! Hannah Quote

Staff MEB Posted March 30, 2020 Staff Posted March 30, 2020 Hi hanstan, Welcome to Affinity Forums When the zoom level is set to a value lower than 100%, live filters/adjustments are dynamically applied to a low-resolution version of your work (called mipmaps) - we do this for performance reasons, to speed up the workflow/rendering within the application - and so what you see on screen is NOT what the filter would look if it was applied to the full size work - often it looks exaggerated depending on the type of filter/adjustment you used. When the zoom level is set to 100% or above, live filters do display accurately because they are applied directly to the full size image and so there's no visible differences between what you see on screen and the real output. Can you please check the image in Affinity Photo at 100% zoom (with the filer enabled and disabled to see if it's doing anything first) and then compare it with the exported version at 100% zoom as well? If it still fails to look the same can you attach the afphoto file for us to check please? I can provide an upload link if you wish to keep the file private.
