I have export 20 video frames as images (JPEG) from my edited system. opened them in affinity photo and did some inpainting on each image. I would like to just save all of them back as Jpeg, do I now have to export each image one at a time as a jpeg? In photoshop I could just close them and they would save back as jpeg. any suggestion?

No, just use Close and say Yes (one at a time) to save the changes.

Do your edited files have layers? If so they will not save as .jpg files. You will need to flatten them first, then they should save as .jpg. If you need the layers, the you will have to save as .afphoto or export as .tiff files.

I found the problem... I had saved the files from my editing system as TGA not JPEG. When I change to JPEG it would save as a JPEG when they are closed. TGA do not automatically save as TGA. You have to export them.
