NikonNick
When importing RAW from a Nikon Z7 , the landscape orientation imports perfectly, the portrait orientation is not correct. I am using an iPad Pro 12.9 iOS 13.4 running Affinity 1.8.2. The portrait orientation imports as low resolution RGB with the image transposed left to right, it does not open into the develop persona. These files work correctly when using other applications that develop RAW.
Russell higginbotham
I have the same issue. Raw pictures load to affinity upside down and heavily pixelated.

And to NikonNik this is a known issue with Nikon images. Follow the link above to install the newest beta link. The app TestFlight is now public. Download it and you should be able to download the latest beta. The beta app downloads separately and does not impact the the current release. See if the issue has been resolved. It would really help the developers. Gabe
NikonNick
P-Mac, Thank you for the information. I will have time to try tomorrow morning and will advise. Also, I am totally new here on the forum, hopefully I am responding in the correct manner. Kindest regards, NikonNick
Staff Gabe Posted March 30, 2020 Staff Share Posted March 30, 2020 Hi all, Can you attach a sample RAW file so we can have a look?
NikonNick
The file upload failed. Is there an email address that I may use? Also, the files are over 8mb each and the info on the fail notice indicates 2.6mb... Thank you, Nick. Files are 48mb each not 8mb as previously indicated. NikonNick
success... I was able to drag and drop two RAW files, same subject. Landscape orientation works perfectly in Affinity. The Portrait orientation is the problem. It is not just this file, it is all Portrait orientation files. Thank you for your interest. Olov
This is still an issue and it has been over half a year since it was reported. Any update on the bug fix?
JacobMichelsen
Switch off auto rotate of portrait mode photos in your Nikon camera (D850 in my case) and it loads without problems. Then rotate the NEF to portrait mode from within Affinity Photo. Voila!
JacobMichelsen
... works for photos shots after the setting has been changed as far as I can recall. Forgot this detail...
Staff Gabe Posted November 27, 2020 Staff Share Posted November 27, 2020 I'm afraid we don't have an update on this. Sorry.
Olov
Just to let you know, after the latest ipadOS (14.3) upgrade the import is working as expected again. The same RAF (NEF) pictures in portrait mode that wouldn't import before now imports just fine. DM1
Russell higginbotham
Just tried raw pictures landscape and portrait. It worked. I’d given up hope of using affinity again. Cheers Olov
JacobMichelsen
Have for a long time used the iCloud import whenever there was this “portrait orientation” problem. Besides this I find Affinity Photo a great tool. Uses it for almost all photos and believe me, I do a lot. Cheers and have a nice X-mas. /Jacob. I turned off portrait mode in my camera (nikon d7100), and the pics i took after that works well... but what about the old ones? I have a lot to work on but i cant since affinity does not load the raw. I also tried beta version, didnt fix the problem either.
