App Not Installing Correctly

Recommended Posts

Hey There,

I purchased the Publisher app back in July of 2019 and it has yet to properly install in my Applications folder on my iMac. I drag and drop the App into my Applications folder, but it only creates an alias. So, each time I open the alias, it has to reinstall. Is there another way to "install" the app so it's actually on my hard drive?

Thank you,

Heidi

Hi @hstupno, welcome to the forums!

If you are trying to install a purchased app, the first thing I would point out is that you are in the wrong section of the forum - this section is specifically for issues encountered while testing beta (unreleased) versions of the software.

This thread probably should have gone here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/51-customer-service-accounts-and-purchasing/

I'm a bit lost on how you would get an alias with a simple drag.

To begin with, where did you purchase Publisher (app store or Serif web site)?

I apologize for posting in the wrong forum. I'll go elsewhere.

I TOO am highly confused as to why when I drag the app to my Applications folder it is only producing an alias. I have never seen this before in all my 40+ years of computer usage. I believe I purchased the app directly off the Serif web site. I can USE the app, but it's always from an alias and I always have to keep the .dmg file open.

Thanks anyway. Sorry about the forum mistake.

Heidi

Maybe you solved that, but did you try Copy and Paste (cmd-C with the app selected on the dmg and then cmd-V in the Application folder) instead of drag and drop?

Perhaps you're not installing it correctly.
