elipse tool

As I am still learning please excuse these simple questions,I would like to know how to put an ellipse inside a circle as when I make the circle then try to make the ellipse the circle disappears?

Hard to visualize without a screenshot / video or recipe to follow.

Does your circle have either a stroke or a fill? If not it is invisible, and will disappear as soon as you click away from it.

But it would still appear in the Layers Panel.

it doesn't have a stroke or fill and I can see it in the layers panel but I want to insert the ellipse inside the circle, hope this helps.

So, give the circle a stroke, so it is visible. Then draw the ellipse inside the circle. Make sure to give the ellipse a stroke, too.
