Replace object colors without original global colors

Recommended Posts

Am I correct that there is no way to replace all objects of a specific color (colour) with a different specific color? In other words, if a document contains 983 objects with fill set to HSL: 0, 0, 70 -- is there no way to change all to HSL: 0, 0, 75?

I realize this can be done with global colors, if they are set when the document is created and used for all colors in the document. But is there another way? I can't seem to find a way to take an existing color, set it as a global color, and then change all objects with that original color.

The Find/Replace works for text (well most text, not sure why it's not finding all text of a specific color value). But for objects?

No, there's no way to do that for objects simply by changing the color if you didn't start by making them with a global color.

If they all have the same stroke settings, though, perhaps you could:

1. Select as many of the objects as you can easily select, and change the color. It will affect all of them

2. Edit > Copy

3. Select more objects.

4. Edit > Paste Style (Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+V)

5. Repeat from step 3 as needed.
