1.8.2 Affinity Designer grid and axes are not working

Dear Serif team,

it's me again. I still can not fulfil my tutorial for pixel art in the pixel persona,
because now after your update 1.8.2 the grid and axes are not working.
Please feel free to see my screen video:

I wanted to create a grid for pixel art, and it is not working.

What a strange behaviour.

Thanks in advance

Sincerely Anke Goldbach

Hi @DAD,
Yes, that the screenshot i needed. Change the Display dropdown from OpenGL to Metal (you will have to restart Designer). It should then display the grid correctly. This bug affects the Open GL display only and it's already with the development. Is there any reason why you changed/set the Display to OpenGL there?

Hi @MEB,

it worked! I changed to Metall and the raster and grid is now working, as you sad.
But I did not do the change openGL. How comes? After the update 1.8.2 I never did open the Preferences.
Could this be the issue? It is from the beginning at openGL?

I found that updates may change my settings, not always but sometimes. So I have gotten  into the habit of doing a Control + startup to clear the user settings and then go through and set them all to what I want.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.0 | Affinity Photo 2.4.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.0 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

This is a good point you have there! I will do so too. Thanks.

Thank you very much @MEB. You helped me. I tried solve this problem two days. Now I select Metal and a one pixel grid start to work.

Mac Os 10.15.X — Affinity Designer 1.8.X

We have made fixes/improvements to this area (Grids divisions fail to show below 16px and grids fail to show below 4px using OpenGL) of the program in the latest release.

The fixes and how to update are described in these forum posts.

We would appreciate you checking that this issue has now been resolved for you.
