In Illustrator I used to have the option to downsample the bitmaps, therefore reducing the size of the output file. Affinity doesn't seem to have anything equivalent. Also tried to open the exported PDF in Illustrator a export it again from there but strangely that made no difference. Are you planning any option for export optimisation? Just reviewed that list and i've found a couple of features I was also wondering if would come to Affinity. I am using the app to build some files for print production. I've not used/tested PDF export enough to give you a solid answer. Hopefully someone will step in to provide you with more info.
