Ellipse fill tool is constrained to circular fills

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm unable to create true elliptical fills - the fill tool is being constrained to circular as both outer nodes move together instead of independently.

4 buttons to the right where it says elliptical fill is an aspect ratio button>untick/depress it and you have a non constrained elliptical fill.

Thanks haakoo. I hadn't noticed that. The previous default behaviour was that it was off, I wonder why the change?

For what little it’s worth, Ken, that strikes me as a more sensible default than the current one. Like you, I wonder why it was changed.

I suspect that overall, users would be more or less evenly divided about which they would consider the more sensible default. So perhaps there should be a user preference or Assistant option to set this to the preferred one?

I tend not to use bitmap fills so no use to me. A preference would be far more suitable.

I think it is less about the particular type of fill one uses as it is about workflows where constrained or unconstrained fills would be the preferred default.

At least the setting seems to be 'sticky' while the app is running so it has to be changed once per launch if it is not the option one wants.
