Hi Kampos,

Welcome to the forums :)

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with this function in CorelDraw - as far as I can see researching the tool it appears as though the text is converted into singular curve objects when you use this tool, however I may be missing something here!

In CD, when you use this function, does each individual letter become a separate text object that you can still edit by adding/removing characters, or is the object converted into a static vector object (ie no longer editable text)?

Dan C, CorelDRAW has both paragraph text in frames and artistic text which is more like graphic elements, but still subject to changes in font, font size, justification and alignment unless and until it is converted to curves at some point.  Ctrl-K is CD's general "break apart" operation.  When applied to a multiline text element (either paragraph or artistic), it creates multiple text elements, one for each line.  The interline leading is not included in the newly created text elements.  When applied to a singleline, multiword text element, it creates multiple text elements, one for each word.  The interword spaces are not included in the newly created text elements.  When applied to a singleword text element, it creates multiple text elements, one for each character.

When applied to paragraph text, CD preserves as much as it can of the original text frame boundaries.  Any excess vertical space is kept with the rows at the top and/or bottom of the text element. Any excess horizontal space in a single line is kept with the words at the left and/or right ends.

While interline leading and interword spacing are omitted from text elements created by Ctrl-K, it is still possible for the new text elements to overlap, especially in the presence of large ascenders and descenders.

(This describes the behavior of CorelDRAW 2018, but I am pretty confident it has not change significantly for many years.)

Hi Kampos!
you are right. I used CD for many years. At that time I was constantly using this option / shortcut to break the text lines.
It was my habit to type all the text matter in the design at a time and then use 'Ctrl + K' to separate it and immediately put lines wherever you needed and then change their font, color, size etc. But this cannot be done in Affinity. Each line has to be typed separately or cut and pasted separately with the help of a text tool. Professionally this is very time consuming work.
In CD, those broken lines can also be selected and added again by pressing 'Ctrl + L' shortcut. This is a very enjoyable and easy way to do dynamic work.
I urge developers to make it easier to break or re-add a line or a word by a shortcut.

I would also like to see the CD style of break text apart applied to AD.  I'm a daily CD user that is slowly converting to AD and I'm only now realizing how much I rely on some of the CD features that are currently missing in AD.

Really enjoying some of the AD features not in CD though!
