Hi there,

I have problems opening 'old' Affinity-files after the update.

"The file includes features from a later version of Affinity" computer is saying ;-)

I updated om laptop as well on Mac, and have the same message on both screens.

I would like to go on with my work, can you help me out here?

Thx, Marjolein

Hi,

We have a similar problem after updating AD to 1.8.3 (Mac), files saved with this version cannt be opened anymore with the software version 1.7.3 (Win). Very annoying when working in teams. We just changed to Affinity. Is there no backward compatibility?

Best,

OB

No. There is forward compatibility (files saved with 1.7 can be opened in 1.8) but no backward compatibility: files saved in 1.8 cannot be opened in 1.7.

In my document where i had this problem all i used was textboxes and images.
There really ought to be a checkbox when saving for backwards compatibility or suggestions on which features wont work at all.

This should be done because :
The fun solution if you can eventually get it opened in one of the programs : Export to PSD.
Works like a charm.

Agree, wether you call it forward or backward compatibility. You should be ways to work with v1.7 and v1.8 on the same document. My institution will contact Affinity to discuss this issue.
