Kyokimaru Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 The Outer Shadow looks a bit rough with 100% intensity How can I fix this? Quote
GarryP Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 Welcome to the forums. Have you tried lowering the Intensity a little bit (see attached image)? If that doesn’t do what you want then you might need to explain a bit more about what you are trying to achieve (maybe with a visual example). Quote
Kyokimaru Posted March 15, 2020 Author Posted March 15, 2020 Thank you for replying. 😀 I just want sharp shadow. Need Outer Shadow looks sharp like an Outline on the left without redraw it with pen tool. Quote

Kyokimaru Posted March 15, 2020 Author Posted March 15, 2020 Thank you Carl123 It looks better at under 100% like that thread. I have tried to change the color format but it still rough. RGB 16 RGB 32 I found someone have the same problem in this thread It have no problem in Photoshop. Affinity is good, fast but I was a little disappointed.https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/10612-text-anti-aliasing-method/page/2/&tab=comments#comment-441714 Quote
firstdefence Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 Affinity looks like this... The same settings in Adobe Photoshop CC look like this. firstdefence Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 You can get this effect using Outline on a second letter ‘A’ coloured black and sat below and offset from the white ‘A’ You can adjust the Alignment to get different effects but ultimately this is the way to get what you want. Kyokimaru Posted March 16, 2020 Author Posted March 16, 2020 Thank you firstdefence ! It's not the best solution because I have to do this so many place in my work but outcome is what I want. Maybe I must to do it this way. 😅 firstdefence 1 Quote
GarryP Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 Maybe if we could have an “Offset/Angle” setting for the Outline Effect that might be a solution. Or maybe that’s a silly idea, I’ve not put too much thought into how it would work in practice. Quote
Fixx Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 Problem with the outer shadow is that if apply Radius the shadow is not antialiased anymore. I consider this a bug. Quote
firstdefence Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 I think the outer shadow should work better than it does at full intensity and I would expect it to be cleaner but PS is struggling too. I think the design of outer/drop shadow presumes it will be used at considerably less than100% for most of it’s uses. You can also use a stroke on the second object, this gives the added benefit of being able to have mitre joins, bevel joins or round joins. Mitre joins Bevel joins Round joins Kyokimaru 1 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Sequoia 15.0 (24A335), iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more...
