How to divide a PNG image in different layers using shapes?

The green shapes would be used to cut the image in pieces:

But I want also to be able to move around the separated pieces independently
So, how do you cut a image by using shapes?

Duplicate the image four times and nest those image layers in each of the shapes.

That is exactly what I don´t want to do, I want to split it in around 200 times
I have made the shapes so I only require to split the image, something that I don´t know how to do in AD
I appreciate your suggestion, but is not what I am looking for

In APhoto:

- draw shape,

- menu Select, Selection From Layer,

- Copy, Paste.

You can mask a Raster Image i.e. PNG but you cannot fragment a raster image into separate layers in AD and I doubt you could do it in Photoshop without the aid of plugins or a fair bit of work.

Clipping the image using multiple shapes and duplicate images is the only method I know of to give the illusion of fragmentation of a raster image in any of the affinity apps.

In that other thread you say that you want to chop the image into squares. This could be done in Designer just using the Export persona and slices.

I’ve just discovered Gimp can slice a raster image up using guides and have each slice as a layer, It uses a py plugin called Guillotine
