Images not exporting as a vector graphic?

Recommended Posts

No matter what format i export the image as they are coming back as a non vectored image and very pixelated when blown up. What am in doing wrong ? sorry I'm a complete novice to all of this!

Hi schism14,

That's probably because you're using some features that are forcing the rasterisation (turning vectors into pixels).

Some things that do this are certain types of gradients/transparency (like conical for example), all FX Effects, blend options, pixel based brushes/strokes etc.

Only seeing the file we can tell you what's forcing the rasterisation. Some of those limitations will be lifted as we move forward and improve our export code.

if i select the option to rasterise nothing, in the export options what affect will this have on final quality? the images need to be blown up hugely for print.

With that option it will ignore whatever caused the rasterisation. Effects like shadows won't be output at all, for example. Unsupported fills will go out as solid colours. Transparent objects may become opaque. It partly depends on what format you are exporting to, since different formats support different things. If the thing causing rasterisation was accidental, such as setting layer opacity to 99%, it might not make any noticeable difference at all. By all means try it, and check the result carefully.
