ProColorGraphics Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 Can you create a default for a set of symbols that will always be available? Quote
firstdefence Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 Symbols are on a Per Document basis, so you can't make a set of symbols that are application wide so they can be used by multiple documents, only per document. But... they are kind of transferable, Make a symbol in document 1 Copy/Paste it to Document 2 In document 2 you can duplicate that symbol and if you make edits to one, that edit will be reflected in the duplicate. The oddity is in document 2 the symbol won't show in the symbols panel until you select create The symbols in Document 1 and 2 become separate entities and changing a symbol in document 1 will not affect the symbol in document 2. Actually come to think about it, you can add a symbol to the Assets panel, Assets are Application wide. If you drop an Asseted < new word Symbol onto the workspace it will show as a symbol in the symbols panel so you can duplicate and edit thus having Application wide symbols. That is what I did for now. Works good, but I will try out the Assets way too. I run a sign/graphics shop, and using Illustrator forever, so I am trying to get the things I need for that setup in Designer. Quote
