FITSplug plug-in compatability?

Recommended Posts

The FITSplug files listed are all 8bi files. Affinity will only work with 8bf files (and not all 8bf files).

Thanks for responding.  I actually came across some discussion earlier today during my search and found that you were using Astra Image.  I purchased it today myself.  One thing I like about it is the fact that it will export in a wide variety of image types.  One thing I don't like though is that 32 bit exports of HDR or TIFF don't appear correctly in Affinity for further work, unless there is a workaround.  I went with the standalone version because I wasn't sure whether or not the plug-in would work with Affinity and also not have display issues like I mention.

@Eric5, I have not used Astra Image much recently, and certainly not the new version, nor with AP 1.8. I used it for photomicrographs and for scanned slides. It did the job, but I found it slow (because of the iterations). Since retiring, I have had less need for this software. I do not recall seeing the problems you mention though.

@Eric5, I have just downloaded and installed the demo versions of Astra Image 5.5.7. The standalone works well (simple deconvolution) on a scanned microscope slide. I tried the older and new plugins, but get the same error message: the plugin will not work on an image with transparency, and it needs a Pixel file (not an Image). Neither of these were the case. I am tempted to buy the standalone. I will also post this problem in the Photo forum.
