Hey @Patrick Connor,
I was wondering why paying customers, have to have a certain... ahmmm, requirements to have a lil pic on the forum. Hell im already contributing to the company... Its a lil silly to have on top of it a rep system. Im saying this because yes, im not really that active on the forum, cus well, life ehheh and I dont have much to nag about hihihh xD But i do occasionally like to give my two cents or upvote peoples suggestions. Im saying its silly because... well, every single site as a avatar function by default even ones made by the company, and since this is a creative company it would be a given to have at least couple of default avatars to choose from. To be totally fair, being a bit imposing, by-default avatars should be the go to because: company control on moderation; low server side storage; quality control...

Is there any thing you can say about why this is serifs decision?

P.S. Im super inclined now to make default avatars for serif..... 🤔 🤔🙂

Initially when brand new users could change their avatar the feature was abused by bots/spammers setting it to an advert or porn... We have put certain restrictions on (this being just one of them) and now find that it almost never happens. It has made moderation here tolerable, and in doing so made using these forums a nicer place, albeit slightly restrictive. I promise you there is a lot of work and thought goes into making sure only real users of our software contribute here.

P.S nice Avatar

Ok makes sense, hence, maybe a less customizable more in company control of avatars would made those problems not a problem. I wasnt here for it so seems a reasonable decision, hence my question. Thanks for the...uhmm ultra mega @#$@ fast reply 😅

Im still making default avatars when i have the time. Have a great day and beggining of a new year!

P.S. Thnks x) part of it made in affinity software already

The Affinity forum and the Affinity store are completely separate - see different login method and credentials, so the forum has (and it is only good and right) no link to information about "paying" users in order to somehow favor them over non-paying.

P.S. I would like to live in a world where the main problem is whether I can change my avatar after four posts or allready after three 🙂

You do get that's not how users see it right? (5 pages post... growing...) A user doesn't know that you have most likely your different credentials on different servers and that they dont talk to each other (which to piggy back on your confirmation, they should...). Things should work for users even if that means more work for the backend. And if this is an affinity official forum, off course it should! For a person spending money on software, they should have a non restrictive profile in the same company network which the forum is apart of. Now Patrick already explained me why, and its a reasonable answer (different than yours), althought i would except should be changed because of user experience. Even if they are different machines they should talk to each other, because in that way they would have more control on "troll" agents.

If you are a paying customer you shouldnt have restrictions, (althought off course as i said avatars shouldnt have "Free reign", for me they should have a pick a library). If you aren't well restrict away like stackoverflow. But restrict in a visible away for users to understand it. This post shouldn't even exist, the fact that it does explains why its a problem. Not all users all Dr Strange and see every pattern for every website.

P.S. If you live in that world where you don't understand why I'm saying maybe don't pitch in?? Basic user customization is a standard pratice, you either offer it or you don't, per the 5 pages of this discussion in this topic alone the user sure doesn't understand why its restricted to apply an avatar, and maybe that either should be more explicit or should be removed. Your level of pettyness is unecessary.

P.S2. Ill not answer to replies for the sake of "off-topic"ying""

They should know. They had to create an account at the Affinity Store, and they also had to create an account for the Affinity forums.

I think it's a good future for free accounts but idk why paid users should treat like this? if i registers my email account to forums and have some purchases on the same account it should automatically removed me from non-paid accounts because paid accounts don't share spam that often.

because i feels this rule farce me to do xx amount of passive comments just to get the privilege , it's the same to stackflow most people spam "grammar and typo" fix to farm their points.

Because the databases are not connected, so when someone asks in this thread I tend to override it manually, like I have for you.
