If you purchased from the Microsoft Store you do not have a key. The purchase is tied to your Windows or Microsoft ID.

To upgrade you just need to sign in to the Microsoft Store using the same ID that you used to purchase your original version, and download the update. Click on the ... icon in the upper right, and select Downloads and Updates, and go from there.

(By the way, the products are not named by year (2018, 2020) but by version.release (1.6, 1.7, and currently 1.8). When running the program, Help > About will tell you which version you're currently running.

Thanks for your reply, i am aware of the version product numbers, I have searched all microsoft store and windows downloads and can't find any earlier versions, there is only the 2020 version (1.8)   p.s.  forgot to say that I found the version I need from Affinity Photo but when it downloads its only the free 10 day one.

Yes, the Microsoft Store (like the Mac App Store) only offers the most recently released version of any app you have purchased from that store, not just the Affinity ones. Serif has no control over this; it is a policy set by Microsoft (& by Apple for the Mac versions).

Sorry; I misunderstood.

You're trying to downgrade from 1.8 to an earlier version? That's only possible for customers who purchased directly from Serif.

However, if you participated in the 1.7 beta program for Photo, and you still have any of your old beta installer files, they should still run.

Thanks Walt, I'm going to keep trying with affinity photo to get the key, best regards, mick.

You don't have a key, so there's no reason to keep trying that.

If you don't have a copy of a 1.7 beta installer your only choices are

  • to live with the problem in 1.8.0, or
  • to try the 1.8.1 beta to see if it works better for you, or
  • to purchase Photo again directly from Serif (which would let you downgrade to 1.7).
  • to use the Affinity Photo 1.7.3 (Affinity Store) build for up to 10 days as a trial (but in your case you have already used that trial up)

Hi, I am having problems with affin photo 2020 with a crosshair that I can't get rid of,

I’m still curious about this opening statement?
Are you referring to Brush crosshairs? If so they can be turned On/Off in Photo’s 'Edit' > 'Preferences' > 'User Interface' > 'Always show brush crosshair' .

If it's something else, then perhaps a screenshot/recording of what you are seeing might help.

I purchased Affinity Publisher (only) from the Affinity Store. Not that I actually want to do this, but I know it should be possible for me to download the older 1.7 version of  APu from some webpage & use my product key with it. But for the life of me I cannot remember the procedure to get to that webpage.

Can someone please help this old man with that?

thanks for reply markw      i did answer similar question before, it was the first thing i looked for in the preferences but ticking or unticking the box does nothing.  p.s.   tried to show you a screenshot but crosshair disappears when i take the shot, strange thing i just noticed that the cross hair is only showing at the moment when I'm using 1 pixel.
