Affinity for for iPad crashes when trying hdr merge

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Whenever I try to create an hdr merge after photos are imported and the merge starts affinity photo crashes and closes out. I am running the latest versions of iPadOS and for affinity photo. I’ve never had this problem before. I’m using my mavic 2 pro and I’ve used the hdr merge before with no problems.

Thank you for the info. I’m at a loss as to why it’s not working for me. I’ve been doing these without a problem for some time now.

Hi JB10940, welcome to the Affinity Forums.

Could you upload the dng files into this private Dropbox folder so we can take a look? Thanks!

Apologies for the delay JB10940.

I've just successfully merged those images 4 times in a row, changing the settings slightly on each attempt.

What version of the app are you currently running?

No problem at all, I understand that delays occur. I’m on the latest version of the app- 1.8.2 and my iPad is up to date as well. I have been using hdr merge without a problem since I’ve purchased the app. This problem started suddenly. I have deleted and reinstalled the app  to see if that would fix it but the problem still persists. I also tried using different photos but the app still crashes.

Thanks for confirming the version. In 1.8.3 we made significant changes to the memory management for the iPad versions which I think will fix this. There is a build available through Testflight:

Or you can wait for the update to be pushed to the App Store. I'm not too sure when that will be available but I think it might be soon.

Great to hear about the update. I will try this and hopefully this will resolve my issue. Thanks again.

Follow up- update was available in App Store and I am able to use hdr merge again. Thank you for your help.
