UserS
Hi. I'm very new to Affinity Publisher. I am using font Abel and I have an issue with digit 4 and decimal point before it. All other digits after the dot are fine and I don't have this issue in other applications with Abel. Can I do anything at all to fix it? Thank you. Gitta
Hi UserS, by default, Publisher applies the kerning tables that the font designer has set for the font. This often requires manual kerning to ensure that all characters appear evenly spaced. In the Abel case, the kerning between the decimal point and four is obviously wrong; the value should be 0.00%. kenmcd
@UserS By default MS Word and Excel do not apply kerning. (that may have changed with MSO 2019, have to check). So your examples above have no kerning at all. The Abel font is badly constructed. Most of the numbers have between -37 and -57 kerning with the period. The 4 has -397. They did the same thing with the comma (-397). The numbers are designed like tabular numbers (fixed spacing), but they have different widths and kerning. I thought of just fixing the period_four kerning for you, but there are many more similar issues. You are better off finding a better font.
