Wlwlad Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 (edited) I have had problems recently with Affinity Photo failing to open properly. In my wisdom I uninstalled the Affinity software on my Windows 10 desktop, went back to my original order confirmation and downloaded the Affinity Photo software again. The .exe file claims that the software was installed successfully. Photo tries to open, claiming that it is downloading fonts, the black background opens but the screen then clears. I expected to be asked for my `key' but it doesn't get that far. I have tried to attach the crash file, as advised elsewhere on this Forum. What should I try next? Staff Leigh Posted March 9, 2020 Staff Posted March 9, 2020 Welcome to the forum Wlwlad Unfortunately, we've had quite a few users report seeing the "Loading Fonts..." message on the startup screen before the app crashes to desktop. This is an issue our developers are investigating but in the meantime you can re-install 1.7.3 to get the apps working again: https://store.serif.com/update/windows/photo/1/ https://store.serif.com/update/windows/designer/1/ https://store.serif.com/update/windows/publisher/1/ When I have more information on this issue, I will let you know. Staff Leigh Posted March 12, 2020 Staff Posted March 12, 2020 Hi @Wlwlad I just wanted to let you know that we have released a new beta build for both Affinity Photo and Designer on Windows that will hopefully improve/fix our apps from crashing on startup when loading fonts. Can you download and install to see if the app(s) starts without any issues? Quote
Staff Leigh Posted March 18, 2020 Staff Posted March 18, 2020 I just wanted to let you know that we have released the new update, 1.8.2, that fixes the issue users were having where the app wouldn't get past the loading screen because of fonts. If you purchased the app from the Affinity Store you can download the update from: https://store.serif.com/update/windows/photo/1/ https://store.serif.com/update/windows/designer/1/ https://store.serif.com/update/windows/publisher/1/ If you purchased the app from the Microsoft Store the update will be available to download from the updates section.
