randomjames
Not every time, but often, when I press CMD + C to copy, Publisher crashes.
Staff Jon P Posted March 6, 2020 Staff Share Posted March 6, 2020 Are you copying the same object each time? Is it some text? Do you have a crash report that is generated that you can attach? Quote Serif Europe Ltd. - www.serif.com
randomjames
Hi Jon, thanks for responding. The crashes seem to occur when I copy a group containing images, etc. Here is a crash report: Crash-109268.txt
Staff Jon P Posted March 10, 2020 Staff Share Posted March 10, 2020 Have you seen this happen in a new document at all, or just the current one you are working from? It might be worth uploading your current document and i'll see if I can reproduce a crash when copying from it You can upload your file here Quote Serif Europe Ltd. - www.serif.com
randomjames
Hi Jon, I've uploaded a file for testing. I can reproduce the crash by selecting the topmost layer group and pressing Command+C. Hope your team can sort this out! Thanks!
randomjames
Photo just crashed as well. I can only assume it's related. Here's the crash report, if it's helpful. I've also uploaded the Photo file. Crash-109268-2.txt
T. Payton
I wanted to chime in that we are seeing Publisher crash nearly every time we use copy or paste. It seems especially frequent with embedded files or photos, or with many items.
Staff Jon P Posted March 13, 2020 Staff Share Posted March 13, 2020 The crash looks the same from Photo, I can't reproduce anything with the file provided. @T. Payton are you on Catalina? I'll continue to look into this and see if I can reproduce anything Quote Serif Europe Ltd. - www.serif.com
T. Payton
We see this both in Catalina and Majove. I'm not able to test this specifically right at the moment, but here the basic steps to repeat: 1 - Create or import an image with multiple layers into Affinity Photo. 2 - Choose File > Open in Designer (or publisher) 3 - In Designer or Publisher add text or other layers to the page or artboard. 4 - Select the image layers together with the text or other layers and choose copy. Results - > Publisher or Designer crashes Further Analysis: To add insult to injury the recovery file does not seem to be saving properly and we are loosing many of the last steps in our work. For us this week, the crash was happening nearly hourly. I'll try to create a screen recording here in a bit if you can't reproduce it. randomjames
I've also noticed that file recovery does not function as usual with these crashes.
T. Payton
BTW. With the new 1.8.2 updates, this is still happening frequently. We again see it most when copying and pasting placed raster images. Just had it happen 3 times in Designer in about 10 minutes.
Staff Jon P Posted March 20, 2020 Staff Share Posted March 20, 2020 Appreciate the update, I was actually poking this again yesterday but still haven't had any luck reproducing it, I'll continue to do so! Staff Jon P Posted March 20, 2020 Staff Share Posted March 20, 2020 Do either of you have Windows Clipboard Manager turned on (Press Windows key and V to turn it on/off)? Quote Serif Europe Ltd. - www.serif.com

randomjames
Hmm! Hi Jon, I do use the Paste clipboard manager. Could that be the problem?!?! https://pasteapp.io
Staff Jon P Posted March 23, 2020 Staff Share Posted March 23, 2020 We have issues logged of other clipboard managers causing crashes, so it is likely. I've installed it and can't reproduce it for a simple file but I have your files from another thread so will see if I get it when I look at that. In the mean time, can you try not running it and see if it helps? randomjames 1 Quote Serif Europe Ltd. - www.serif.com
T. Payton
We're using paste as well. I disabled paste for affinity apps and I'll see how that goes. Patrick Connor and randomjames
randomjames
Hi @Jon P, I tried @T. Payton's advice about and set Paste to not store clipboard data from Affinity apps. This seems to have done the trick for now. Cheers, you two! Jon P
Cyan Cooper
I just found this thread after experiencing the same thing for months. I had two apps (Unclutter and Paste) that had to blacklist Affinity before the crashing stopped. Good to know what it was, now the hair won't stand up on the back of my neck every time I hit command + C!
