iPad AD: controlling gradient on STROKE

Recommended Posts

I’ve applied a gradient to a stroke I made in the shape of a spiral using one of the brush tools..oil, perhaps.

With the stroke selective, when I choose the gradient tool, I don’t see the tool appear on top of the selected stroke. Plus, can AD apply the gradient along the length of the stroke, such that, at one end of the stroke, it’s one color / opacity, and as it moves to the other end of the stroke, the gradient varies to a different color / opacity?

As I have it now, the gradient is applied to the stroke, but from one side to the other.

So..(1) how to adjust the gradient applied to the stroke (color / opacity) and (2) how to make the gradient follow the stroke.

Thank you

Edit: I just bumbled upon how to make the gradient tool appear while my spiral is selected, but it doesn’t appear that the gradient can gradate along the stroke...yet...

I can’t get this to work, mimicking your screen grab; what’s the secret?  😀

Have you tried clicking on the icon to the far left / top of the contextual menu located at the bottom of your screen.

Like in DM1's image.

Yes...I’ve done it all of the ways that those controls can be set. the only thing I get is a gradient applied to the stroke which varies according to the end points of the gradient tool and NOT according to the end points of the line.

I don’t know what else to do..keep trying, I guess, but I keep getting the same result!

😐

No secret. Your end line extends back to the darker origin of the gradient, mine doesn’t. If you look really closely there is still some shading toward the end of my coiled line.

The symbols on context menu (left side) are top, Fill gradient, bottom, Stroke gradient allowing you to select fill or stroke.
