Opening this SVG crashes Designer...

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

The bmc-remedy-1.svg file crashes Designer.

I tried using svgcleaner to remediate and created bcc-remedy-2.svg but it likewise crashes Designer...

Any idea why Designer crashes?

Inserting this at the start doesn't help...

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>
<!DOCTYPE svg PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD SVG 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/1.1/DTD/svg11.dtd">

Finally used Inkscape to import and export it again...

So I am unblocked, but would be good if Designer was more resilient when parsing SVGs :)

Hi tau,

try inserting the following code, replacing your svg-opening tag. Xml must be line 1!

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>
<!DOCTYPE svg PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD SVG 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/1.1/DTD/svg11.dtd">

<svg width="2500" height="698" viewBox="20.5 268.6 600 106.7" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xml:space="preserve" xmlns:serif="http://www.serif.com/">

Hi Tau,

There is a known issue that opening an SVG containing a minus height/width value will cause Designer to crash. Just changing the height from -698 to 698 will allow the SVG to open without crashing Designer.

I'll get this bumped with development - thanks for letting us know.
