PepGold
I can't import .xlsx files into Publisher as shown here: https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/tutorials/publisher/desktop/video/390012721 When I choose Place and select the .xlsx file in Finder nothing happens in Affinity. The cursor isn't loaded, nothing happens and nothing can be placed. As if the file isn't imported. Affinity Publisher: 1.8.1 MacOS: 10.15.3 And if drag the file onto Publisher I get an unsupported file format.
Staff Callum Posted March 4, 2020 Staff Share Posted March 4, 2020 Hi Csj, Welcome to the forums Please could you provide a screen recording showing you going to File > Place selecting your Xlsx file then holding left click and drawing a box similar to the tutorial to show that it isn't working? Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
PepGold
I tried. But the screen recording is bigger than 2MB.

Staff Patrick Connor Posted March 15, 2020 Staff Share Posted March 15, 2020 We have made fixes/improvements to this area ( XLSX files can't be placed into Publisher) of the program in the latest customer beta. If you would like to try these changes the beta software is available in the forum posts listed below. The latest beta builds are downloadable from links at the top of each of these beta forum posts. Affinity Publisher 1.8.2.619 for Windows Affinity Publisher 1.8.2.619 for Mac These betas install parallel, next to the release version (they do not overwrite your release) and so the fixes can be tried in the beta without affecting your normal workflow in the release version. Once these programs have been through a full beta process the change will be released in a future free 1.8.1/1.8.2 update/patch to all customers. petermoran
I'm using Publisher 1.10 and I get the same message when I try to place and excel xlsx file: file not supported. I end up having to copy and then paste each individual cell. Edited August 19, 2021 by petermoran

I end up having to copy and then paste each individual cell. I've just tried a couple of .XLSX files produced by Libre Office and had no problems. I don't have Excel, so I can't tell whether there's a difference in the files or it's specific spreadsheets that work / don't work, but it might give you some options.
