Photo for iPad won’t share after 1.8 update

Recommended Posts

Photo for iPad would not open after the update. I deleted and tried to reinstall but it wants full payment. My husband shares the App with me and it worked fine before. All sharing options are set on both iPads.

Any ideas?

Make sure both iPad devices are logged into the same Apple account used to purchase the app.

If it’s Family Sharing and worked before update, what changed?  Unless family user changed ID or signed out of iCloud, App Store should as before.  What am I’m missing. Family sharing allows both to have different accounts/ID.  Husband shared Photo purchased App to wife’s account.

Share App Store, iTunes Store, and Apple Books purchases with Family Sharing

With purchase sharing, you can give your family members immediate access to each other's apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books.*

  1. Download purchases on your iPad

    1. If you're not signed in, sign in with your Apple ID.
    2. Open the store app that you want to download content from.
      • App Store: Tap your profile picture ios13-login-inline-icon.png in the upper-right corner, then tap Purchased.
      • iTunes Store: Tap Purchased, then tap My Purchases.
      • Apple Books: Tap your profile picture ios13-login-inline-icon.png in the upper-right corner.
    3. Tap the family member's name to see their content. Learn what to do if you don’t see any content or can't tap your family member.
    4. To download an item, tap Download Download icon next to it.

I had the same issue, that since the 1.9 update installed on my iPad, my wife's iPad (which was happily installed with version 1.8 through iOS family sharing), won't update to 1.9.
It was a simple problem resolved by re-enabling purchase sharing on my apple account - which I had apparently disabled at some point since installing version 1.8

You shouldn't need to do this if you enable family sharing. Each device can be logged in with it's own apple id and still install the apps through family sharing.
