Affinity Designer Crashing on Mac v1.8.1

Hi Guys,

I recently updated to 1.8.1 on my Mac and I had issues on 2 fronts.

1. My file gave me an error message as if it wouldn't save anywhere.

2. In reference to #1, it did actually save but when I tried to open the file it crashed immediately. My old files open just fine.

I'm actually having trouble recreating the error.

Hi, I'm also experiencing a good deal of crashes on Mac same version. I couldn't tell you what I was doing at the time but proir to the update it 1.7.x it never crashed. Actually nor did the 1.8.0 version I'm pretty sure.

Have you started your document from an Architecture preset at all? There is a known issue that starting from one of these templates will unfortunately not allow you to save. If that is the case then you can use the Snapshot Panel (View > Studios > Snapshot) to create a new snapshot, and then use the button side that Panel to create a new document from that snapshot. You should then be able to save.

Clay Bob,
I've responded to your issue in the thread you created on Wednesday :)

Yeah for me, 1.8.1 is crashing upon opening select old files and when I search for fonts by typing the first few letters...

I'm still on macOS 10.14.6

Hope an update is around the corner!

This is a known issue that has now been fixed and will be in the 1.8.2 update due soon. In the meantime you can use the macOS beta here:
