GarryP Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 Designer was used in this video and I’m pretty sure that the same workflow can be followed in all the Affinity applications but you will have to use the relevant menu choices for the Geometry operations instead of the Designer toolbar buttons. Here’s a video showing you how you can make a tri-part circular logo like that in the attached image. If you try it yourself, make sure you select the correct shapes for each Geometry operation, otherwise things may go wrong quickly. You don’t need to add the shadow like I did if you don’t want a shadow. (I didn’t use the Inner Shadow Effect for the shadow as that ‘goes round the curve’ which doesn’t look right for this.) As you will see in the video, using a Symbol lets you make changes to the colours very quickly. (Only Designer has Symbols but you don’t need to use them if you’re using another Affinity application, just duplicate the groups instead of the symbols.) 2020-03-01_12-50-31.mp4 BobMoyer, jmwellborn, dominik and 11 others 13 1 Quote
jer Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 Cleverly put together with a great result. Loved how you used the symbol. Thanks for sharing. Quote ♥ WIN 10 AD & AP ♥ Lenovo Legion Y520 15.6" Laptop
GarryP Posted March 3, 2020 Author Posted March 3, 2020 Thanks jer. I think it’s worth mentioning that you can get a fully-circular logo by simply placing a circle at the centre of the design and giving the circle an Erase Blend Mode, as per the attached image. Quote
Alfred Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 Very nicely done, Garry! 2 hours ago, GarryP said: I think it’s worth mentioning that you can get a fully-circular logo by simply placing a circle at the centre of the design and giving the circle an Erase Blend Mode, as per the attached image. Certainly worth mentioning, but for what little it’s worth I think the Reuleaux triangle works better for a logo like this. GarryP Posted March 3, 2020 Author Posted March 3, 2020 Thanks Alfred. Just to experiment, and try and boost my skills a little, I came up with a way of constructing a Reuleaux triangle. I created a separate thread for it, just in case other people wanted to post better methods so we can keep them together.https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/108966-how-to-create-a-reuleaux-triangle/ Alfred 1 Quote
Martin_1 Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Very cool. I am new to Designer and could easily follow this. Thanks! Quote
