Crashes when opening existing document

Just spent 3 days working on an ebook. Today, I exported the ebook to pdf (have done this before on this document). However, today, I accidentally chose the export  file as the original afpub file. When it didn't export, I chose the correct pdf document for export.

Now, my afpub file will not open. It starts Publisher, then Publisher immediately closes. Also tried double clicking the afpub file. It starts Publisher, then Publisher immediately closes.

Here is the afpub file. Hope you can help me get this thing open as I've poured a lot of hours and work into it. Also attached is the pdf file.

Any help rescuing my document will be appreciated.....very much!

Your .afpub file opened just fine for me. That's possibly because I do not have your Linked resources available.

So, to recover, you might try renaming the folders that your images are in, or disconnecting the drives (I noticed S and P, but there may be more), so that Publisher can't find them for you, either. Then if it opens successfully, you can save a fresh copy, and then use the Resource Manager to replace the images one at a time.

I just upgraded to Publisher 1.8. When I open an existing file and start to import text, the program either hangs up or crashes ... sometimes right away, sometimes after a handful of imports. Help! I'm on a very tight timeframe. Could I somehow go back to version 1.7, which didn't have this problem?

Well I think I solved this on my own. Crashes were happening when I imported text and then scrolled through pages, looking for the right page to put it on. Possibly something to do with if you're holding a whole bunch of text and you roll over a text block, Publisher tries to show you what the text would look like if placed in the block, with the block's specs ... ??? Anyway when I avoided doing any rollovers while holding text, the problem went away. Now I'm happily working on the project.
