rchapman
I am unable to start Designer 1.8.1 under Mac OS X 10.8.5. The splash screen comes up for about 78 seconds then disappears; no loading beyond that. Crash report attached. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. scrutinizer
Glad, I'm not alone. Crashes under Lion 10.7.5 too, see https://ishr.site/vbSE Looks like both Lions are companions in distress (the same happened with 1.7, now the pattern repeats) Do your crash logs contain the same messages? I bet they do. rchapman
Two sources claim that Designer 1.8.1 obtained from the Macintosh App Store (as mine was) is compatible back to OS X 10.7: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/affinity-designer/id824171161?mt=
h_d
It also requires a 64-bit processor, so it's hardware dependent too: Don't quote me, but pre-2007 hardware may not play ball. Staff Patrick Connor Posted February 29, 2020 Staff Share Posted February 29, 2020 As you have worked out from the text on the Affinity Website and the text on the Mac App Store (MAS), the MAS build supports 2 more operating systems than the Affinity store version, that of Lion and Mountain Lion. However a last minute change has meant that the software has stopped running on Lion and Mountain Lion. This is my mistake and I am sorry it was not caught, but I am sure this can be resolved quickly and the software will once again function on these older operating systems. Staff Patrick Connor Posted March 14, 2020 Staff Share Posted March 14, 2020 We have made fixes/improvements to this area (MAS Affinity builds fails to start up on Lion and Mountain Lion 10.7/10.8.5) of the program in the upcoming 1.8.2 update/patch, free to all customers.
