Designer 1.8.1 crashes under OS X 10.8.5

Glad, I'm not alone. Crashes under Lion 10.7.5 too, see https://ishr.site/vbSE

Looks like both Lions are companions in distress (the same happened with 1.7, now the pattern repeats)

Do your crash logs contain the same messages? I bet they do.

From https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/designer/full-feature-list/ Tech Specs tab for Macs:

It is the same for all 3 Affinity apps, so 10.9 Mavericks is the oldest supported Mac OS version (& I think there are a few features that require newer versions as well).

All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.4.1 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7

It also requires a 64-bit processor, so it's hardware dependent too:

Don't quote me, but pre-2007 hardware may not play ball.

As you have worked out from the text on the Affinity Website and the text on the Mac App Store (MAS), the MAS build supports 2 more operating systems than the Affinity store version, that of Lion and Mountain Lion. However a last minute change has meant that the software has stopped running on Lion and Mountain Lion. This is my mistake and I am sorry it was not caught, but I am sure this can be resolved quickly and the software will once again function on these older operating systems.

My Mac is 2012 MBP, 64-bit CPU. Still doesn't run in 10.7

We have made fixes/improvements to this area (MAS Affinity builds fails to start up on Lion and Mountain Lion 10.7/10.8.5) of the program in the upcoming 1.8.2 update/patch, free to all customers. Sorry for this ovesrsight in 1.8.1
