Freature Request: Handoff Support for Mac/iOS

Recommended Posts

I love the Affinity apps on both my Mac and iPad. I'd really love "handoff" support so I can do some aspects of my work quickly on my iPad. I don't even necessarily want to move the file to my iPad... just quick do some work with it and send/save it back to my Mac to finish up. If I could click a button titled "open in" and choose my iPad, that would be fantastic. :)

This might be an interesting addition to the "Open in Designer" / "Open in Photo" / "Open in Publisher" menu items - to be able to "pair" multiple computers/devices running the Affinity products so that "Open Remotely -> Designer on iPad" or "Photo on MacBook Pro" (for example) would become possible...

I think handoff is intended for "small" files or task, like text, notes, email, messages etc. Not big files, like 100MB - 1GB. I could be wrong.

I’ve been using Mindnode recently and they’ve done handoff very nicely. I think Mindnode files could get quite sizeable (although unlikely to be s large as the average Designer file)

I don’t know exactly how handoff works but I would have thought that it would pass a small token to point to a file in the logged in user’s ICloud Drive.

Presumably, when Safari does handoff, it just passes the URL rather than the completely rendered page?

Certainly round trips of Afinity files between OS platforms are clunkier than they should be.
