Creating artboard moves objects

File > New (any size)

Add a rectangle. Duplicate rectangle.

Select artboard tool

Draw artboard larger than canvas

1st rectangle stays where it was, duplicate moves relative to it.

Undo - artboard is removed, shapes remain in their incorrect positions.

With a more complex document you get a complete mess. On a side note, is it time to move to having a 'stable' version that doesn't auto-update for people who aren't using it as a hobby?

The Windows versions purchased directly from Serif don't auto-update. They  merely inform you that an update is available.

The problem is that the updates are essentially betas, and for those of us who purchased through the app stores we are forced into testing them. Right now I need to be working, not finding and reporting bugs.

I am having the same issue, the artboard feature is broken now. You can't insert an artboard to selection, which is a feature I use very regularly, without it moving objects in my work all over the place, then, unlike the previous version, you can't restore it to it's original state by undoing, because the cropped area remains and some of the objects disappear altogether! This ruins my work and unless I have saved, I've lost much of what I've done and forced to reload a previous saved version. In my example you see the rectangle disappears, reappears and disappears again when trying to recover.

I believe that everything posted in one of the bug forums is automatically tracked. When someone from Serif has time, they will process it. That sometimes takes a few minutes, sometimes a few hours, sometimes a few days, and occasionally a week or more. It depends on how many reports have been made, and there are a lot of them right now.

I've seen other bug reports getting tagged with a number, presumably that's an indication that it has been logged for attention. Can this bug please get some official acknowledgement?

Hi BofG,

Sorry for the delay in responding - we're working our way through the list of all reported issues so we are getting there! In this case I've reproduced the issue and now passed it on to development. Thanks agian for letting us know!

Designer1,

This is a separate issue to the one reported by the original user. The issue you are likely running is to is a known hang that occurs if you don't have a font installed that an Asset uses. This has been fixed in the latest Windows beta which you can use here:

We have made fixes/improvements to this area (Objects move on page when artboard is drawn out & undo problem) of the program in the latest customer beta. If you would like to try these changes the beta software is available in the forum posts listed below.

The latest beta builds are downloadable from links at the top of each of these beta forum posts.

These betas install parallel, next to the release version (they do not overwrite your release) and so the fixes can be tried in the beta without affecting your normal workflow in the release version.

Once these programs have been through a full beta process the change will be released in a future free 1.8.1/1.8.2 update/patch to all customers.
