paulo Dekkers Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 situation I've created a document in Affinity Publisher on the desktop and I want to continue editing the document on the iPad. The file opens in Affinity Designer on the iPad as expected. Everything is there but some of the images (my logo amongst them) are blurred. questions - How to re link images in affinity designer on ipad? - Or how do I make sure (placed) images are embedded in affinity documents?extra info Replacing the image with the document menu: [placing image] look great again but sadly it results in the same blurred image after you close affinity designer, re-open affinity desiger and open the file again. walt.farrell Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 On the desktop, Designer would prompt you when opening the file if the images cannot be found, and allow you to locate them (or use the Resource Manager, which is only available when opening a document). But this is a rather primitive approach, available only as a backup option because Designer is not supposed to use Linked files. It sounds like Designer on the iPad may not have even that limited functionality. In Publisher, when you create your document you can specify as part of File > New that you would prefer to have files embedded, rather than linked. You can also change that preference for an existing document using File > Document Setup, and you can change any currently Linked files to Embedded using the Resource Manager (Document > Resource Manager). paulo Dekkers 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. paulo Dekkers Posted February 28, 2020 Author Posted February 28, 2020 Thank you verry much Walt.farell. Embedding the images in Affinity Publisher using the resource manager as mentioned solved the problem. Now when I open the same file on the iPad everything is present and sharp as expected. Quote

Think you may have to explain what your problem is, the issue described above was regarding two different filing systems so naturally linked files could not be found on a different filing system, hence Resource Manager was used to change linked files over to embedded files. This would clearly cover any filing system, say changing from Mac to PC or PC to iPad etc. Quote Affinity Photo, Designer, Publisher 1.10 and 2.5 on macOS 15.0 Beta Sequoia on M1 Mac Mini 16GB 1TB Affinity Photo, Designer, Publisher 1.10 and 2.5 on Windows 10 Pro. However linking images into a document on designer on iPad is possible but I don't currently see a way to re-link image links in an Affinity Designer iPad document. Am I missing something or is this still not a feature? Quote

Paul you are correct and that’s great. Beyond that is there anyway to re-link items manually in the iPad version? Quote

This is a manual method, you have to search through your photo albums or the files area in a cloud location to find each file. There is no Resource Manager in the current iPad version. That would be very useful for my current workflow. Quote
