Document started in 1.7.x is unable to Export to PDF neither as a pre-defined set-up nor custom.

Even opening the Export Dialog seems to have an effect on the application. It cannot compute the Estimated File Size (fan becomes audible). Exiting from here works, but the application will not shut down without a Force Quit.

If I go through with an Export, it hangs at the last ~6th of the progress bar. Cancel doesn't work. Force Quit required.

Are there instructions for doing so or is it as simple as deleting the app and installing 1.7.3?

If you can still get a copy of 1.7.3 (from Time Machine, for example), this alone would not be enough, but you would also need to replace the various preference files for the earlier version or start 1.7.3 while holding down the control key and reset all of the settings. (Perhaps some of the settings would not need to be reset, but I have no idea how to tell you which, because presumably any setting that is changed in a way that 1.7.3 does not understand could cause issues.)

It seems to export fine for me (I tested with exporting to the PDF X4 preset).

Can you hold CTRL whilst running up the application and ensure "Reset file export presets" is ticked and let me know if that helps?

Same results. Currently hung at about 5/6th the way through. Computer fan ramped up and is still running. Seemed to be pausing more through the process and actually doing things. Using PDF digital (small)

There's no logs to check unfortunately (not on Mac, on Windows it can be enabled via the registry).

Could you embed the troika png and supply me with the Charlemagne, Deutsche Zierschrift, Saraband Initials and Sarabnd Lettering fonts (just upload to the above link).

I then should have the document set up exactly as you do (currently substituting those fonts) which should hopefully help me see what is happening.

Thanks

No another version of the same file. This time no covers.

I can't make new posts anymore: I don't know it's getting worse. Now the progress bar doesn't even come up. This time I tried just exporting a current spread. 1.1 MB was computed. Export. Standard OS Save Dialog and then nothing.

Update it was able to export a spread. Tried 10 pages and that froze the app. Tried 5 pages with success. Very strange. If I can get back an estimated file size it works. If it's still "Calculating..." it will crash.

Is there a memory setting somewhere to mess with? Update: I tried setting performance settings way up. No change

@Lectrotext Just in case this helps at all, if you're running Catalina (MacOS 10.15) it may involve Publisher's 1.8/1.8.1 update having problems with your operating system.

In another thread, we have anecdotal confirmation that Publisher's PDF exports on Catalina do not have selectable text, but users of previous MacOS versions aren't having this issue. This isn't your complaint, but it might be related. Here's my thread trying to sort out my issue:

I wish I had something more specific to contribute, but it may be helpful for you and for those helping to note which operating system version you're using. Good luck!

Hi @Lectrotext,

Not on holiday, just not in the office over the weekend and obviously quite busy at the moment, sorry!

I can reproduce it failing with the fonts you provided and have passed it on to our developers.

From what I can see its the Sarabond fonts causing the issue, when I disabled them it let me export it again - so hopefully you see the same and it gives you a way to workaround this issue whilst the developers look at it further.
