Trying to get a better understanding of masks, I'm using a few basic elements, one of which is an ellipse.

Add layer.

I add a mask to the layer at the top of the stack and put the ellipse on it.
This then masks the underlying objects.
I select the ellipse in the layers panel and move it about the canvas.
It doesn't refresh.

Also, Zoom to Selection works on the other objects but not on the ellipse (mask).

Designer 1.8.0.585

P.S. Am I the only one who would welcome a Masks for Dummies tutorial?

Regarding the picture, the original ellipse position is at 'A', masking the two objects below it.

I select the ellipse in the layers panel and move it to B but it doesn't refresh the screen. Zooming in or out does refresh but scrolling doesn't.

Also, and I've only just noticed, deselecting the mask and the ellipse in the Layers panel doesn't refresh the screen either.

I'll be going out in  few minutes for a couple of hours (in case you need any further information).

Thanks for the extra info’.
I think this is a bug, and a pretty nasty one too.
Zooming in or out refreshes the whole canvas so that refreshes things as expected.
Scrolling refreshes too but you need to scroll the area containing both the ellipse and the image off the canvas and back on to see the full effect.
However, the canvas should refresh without needing to zoom or scroll at all.
I notice that the thumbnail seems to refresh correctly but not the canvas.
I’ve attached a video showing it in action.
