Cannot drag select objects

Since this mornings App Store patch for yesterday's issues I can no longer drag select objects on an artboard with any predictability. Sometimes it works, sometimes it misses an entire group or object, but most often it just says (0 objects) when dragging a selection around things.

Hi Brian D,

I believe this is part of the changes made to artboard selection. If you have no objects selected then you will be able to draw a marquee and select any artboards. However if you have an object selected on an artboard, then a drag select will limit the selection to objects on that artboard.

If you're still getting problems could you attach some screen recordings (showing the entire screen) that demonstrates it working and not working please?

Thanks

Thanks for the file - I see what you mean now. I can see that this is being caused by the excess amount of blue triangle shapes in the bottom corner, despite the majority of them being hidden by a vector mask. This does appear to be a regression over 1.7 and I'll get it passed on to development.

In the meantime you can use Edit > Preferences > Tools > 'Select object when intersects with selection marquee'. This will allow you to get those objects elected without making a huge selection marquee, however be aware it will now select anything it touches!
