PSD Mockup embed image problem

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I love new mockup import feature, I waited from years ago! Fantastic!

I found a little bug: if PSD have more than one embed image object, then all embed image replaced when I change an embed image. Just try it:

  • open a PSD mockup what include more than one embed image
  • change an embed image
  • see change ALL embed images.

Please fix this, and this feature will perfect!

Here is an example mockup, and try change embed images per bottle (link will live to sunday):

That is odd. Thanks for noticing and reporting it.  I see the same thing.

(I wonder if it works on Mac?)

I tried change embedded image on each bottle, to different images. But when I changed ANY embedded image, then changed on all.

Open the document in APhoto, then File > Edit in Publisher (or Designer) and you can edit any embedded image without the others changing

Go figure!

@Wosven I tried now on a different PC with Windows 10, but when I place an image to right bottle, changed all under Affinity Photo. But @carl123 trick is working: open mockup in Photo, and without any change select File -> Edit in Publisher and after opened there can modify embedded images separately. Interesting...

I don't have problems with this file either on W7 with AP and AP beta, or modifying it using AP on Windows 10. I'm confuse about what you're doing so you can't use it properly, and only a video would show this.

As there are several of us who can't get it to work (mykee, haakoo, and I) and only you saying it works, perhaps you could record the video to educate us on how to do it properly?

When I edit the "Place Content Here for Right Bottle" embedded document, whatever I do shows up on all 3 bottles. For example, in this screenshot I removed all the layers from that embedded document, and added some artistic text saying "Right". The result was this, with the text on all 3 bottles, not just on the right-hand bottle:

Thanks, @Wosven, but Windows 10 tells me that video isn't playable. Perhaps it didn't upload properly?

But thinking about it, if the product is supposed to be the same bottle with the same logo and text, but smaller on the left and right bottles than in the middle, and if it behaves as symbols (like in AD), I would say it's working fine for you but bugged for me!

I put the original one, try it.

Thanks. That works better.

However, you are not updating in the way that Serif tells us we should be doing. The smart objects are being brought in as embedded documents, and Serif tells us to double-click on the embedded document layer so it opens in a new tab, make the changes, and close the tab to update the original document.

(See James Ritson's new tutorial video on smart objects, released yesterday.)

I think it's supposed to be possible to put whatever you want on them, but they are acting like symbols for us (though there is no sign in the Layers panel that symbols are in use).

It's not. One of the embedded documents is named "Place Content Here for Right Bottle", another "... for Left Bottle", and the third "... for Middle Bottle". If they all had the same name then I could agree with you on that one :)

Thanks for the video. I usually have no time to do tests at work (or forget to do them), but I would like to see how it's done in PS and how it's behaving.

You're welcome. If you have a chance to test it I'd like to know how it behaves in PS :)

@Wosven and try @carl123's trick too: if open mockup in Photo, and without change select File -> Edit in Publisher, then in APub can edit each bottle design, and no replace all. And I see your video, and you modify bottle as normal image, no embedded. Try this:

- turn on Import PSD smart objects where possible options in Preferences.

image.png.d8ac3f4c71c0de4ddde1df8db812d8c2.png

- open bottles again

- double click on Place Content Here for Right Bottle or Right Bottle Content Effect (if need change bottle effect)

image.png.1d5c4ccbd8ef29586311504d1080a86b.png

- place a new image or modify anything on this Embedded page:

image.png.40e371fcf5529dcc40e04ebb26ba779d.png

- and turn back to original image on top, and see result:

If will try @carl123 trick, here is steps:

- Open original bottles in Photo as embedded, and select File -> Edit in Publisher:

- After opened in Publisher, replace embed content as in Photo, and see result:
