Please,
you could add a hint/tooltip to the "+" button to see what it causes (that will add current/entered settings to My Presets).

Of course it would be good for all other items as well.
Thank you

Of course, the alternative would be to provide us all with crystal balls! 😁

FWIW, the Mac 1.8 versions of all 3 apps have an "Add New Preset" tooltip for the plus button, so it appears that is a Windows only omission.

That said, it seems to me that since it currently only appears in the collapsable "Layout" section with the name of the currently selected preset to its right, it would make more sense for the button to be a standard labeled one in the empty space to the left of the Create & Cancel buttons at the bottom of the window, & also for the currently selected preset to appear on a line of its own above the search field, not in any of the collapsable sections.

Thanks for the info, I added the Tag.

I was also wondering why this is so strange. Maybe only Layouts settings are stored in Presets.

But this is probably not true, because changing Print to Print Ready also changes the color format to CMYK.

Unfortunately, there was no improvement even after a year.

To me the "New..." window feels like forgotten by the developers after its initial invention, it doesn't appear finalized yet.

What me most confuses is the fact that a selected icon remains highlighted (> selected) if you alter any of its properties. This behavior feels like a bug to me.

I still miss a page size ratio lock.

Also I still don't understand the sense of the page icons at all:
a) they neither reflect page ratio nor orientation (square / portrait / landscape)
b) they differ in 1 vs. 2 frames/borders with no reason (it is NOT colorspace)
c) they have a large size but without any visual info / benefit

To me a text list would be more useful, ideally with sortable aspects (e.g. size, ratio, color etc.), not necessarily with tiny thumbnails for ratio, orientation.
The current icons simply don't use their options in particular in their current size, besides ratio/orientation they could also reflect color (RGB/CMYK), margin, bleed … actually every page property could be iconized someway.

Me too.

The explanation from Serif is completely illogical and useless to me.

It is quite surprising, into what Serif invests obviously insufficient development capacity, and dozens/hundreds of bugs (often only minor ones) go completely unnoticed.

It’s illogical to me, too. And the fact that the chosen preset loses its highlight when you switch to another category and back again (without choosing a different preset from the other category) is most certainly a bug.

I am amazed at the persistent bug-existence and apparently Serif's ignorance of various issues and the selection / decision for some new features. I guess it is caused by individual favorites of certain team members and their special interests > skills.

For example, it seems quite surprising that in the recent few months ...
• A Video mode has been developed for APh's history panel (... which has been removed meanwhile).
• An In-App installer feature has been developed that required massive user responses & code fixes – although these installations were already possible without loss.
• A specialization for "Astrophotography" was developed for APh – although such user-requests were much lower than for many other features.

"Astrophotography"

Maybe it sounds more "High-Tech" than the non-destructive RAW development, that most photographers would use. There may not always be a match between user needs and marketing.

Considering that "Astrophotography" is an individual interest of the Product Expert (Affinity Photo) Team Leader the according APh improvements don't appear as a conscious marketing but rather as a decision caused by personal preference and the available knowledge.
